Its such a fun time of the year to be engaged — all of the holiday parties to go to and show off your new bling while mingling with family and friends. Enjoy it! I have a few words of advice to those of you that are newly engaged…

1 — If you plan to get married in 2010 pick your date as soon as possible and start booking venues and vendors. So many businesses are already fairly booked up [ if not solidly ] from June through September and in some cases May through the end of October.

2 — Be flexible. Find your favorite venue or vendor and see what they have available, its not unusual to plan around one or several must-have vendors.

3 — Think about having a Friday evening or Sunday afternoon or morning wedding. Or maybe plan a winter wedding. Less people are likely to be getting married on that date and some vendors will give you a discount for a date they are less likely to book.

4 — Head to the Bride’s World expo at the Ambassador Conference center on January 9th. There will be a fashion show and over fifty vendors to check out and find inspiration.
