Oh So Pretty – Monogrammed Everything!

I don’t know if you are like me at all but I *love* monograms! If I could put our monogram on everything I just might. That may be slightly exaggerated but not much :)   Monograms can be serious or elegant or funky, whatever your style is – it can be put into your monogram. Not only are they fun for at your wedding [ on the napkins, programs, the champagne flutes ] but they are great for bedding, towels, plates and all kinds of fun housewares.

Here is a photograph from my wedding where my husband’s aunt designed and painted the monogram onto our aisle runner — we cut it down to a reasonable size and it now resides in our bedroom as an art piece on the wall!

Website Update

Happy new year everyone! I just wanted to give a quick update on what is to come on this site. First of all, we are working on a master list of vendors in the area to help you plan your upcoming wedding — that should start going up this week! Also our first featured couple post is coming up in the next few days or so.

We are still looking for some real Erie or Jamestown couples to send in photos and information about their engagement story or real weddings to kick start these two features on the blog. We are hoping that your stories and weddings inspire others in the area for their own planning. Also if you have any questions about anything or wish to share any wedding related information send them to me at heather@lakeerieweddings.com.

Newly Engaged? Congratulations!

Congratulations to all you newly engaged brides and grooms to be! Around Christmas and the New Year is a very popular time to become engaged. I myself got engaged in December 2007. Its such a fun time of the year to be engaged — all of the holiday parties to go to and show off your new bling while mingling with family and friends. Enjoy it! I have a few words of advice to those of you that are newly engaged…

1 — If you plan to get married in 2010 pick your date as soon as possible and start booking venues and vendors. So many businesses are already fairly booked up [ if not solidly ] from June through September and in some cases May through the end of October.

2 — Be flexible. Find your favorite venue or vendor and see what they have available, its not unusual to plan around one or several must-have vendors.

3 — Think about having a Friday evening or Sunday afternoon or morning wedding. Or maybe plan a winter wedding. Less people are likely to be getting married on that date and some vendors will give you a discount for a date they are less likely to book.

4 — Head to the Bride’s World expo at the Ambassador Conference center on January 9th. There will be a fashion show and over fifty vendors to check out and find inspiration.

5 — Check back here often for lots of news, advice and Erie inspired wedding information!

Welcome to Lake Erie Weddings!

Welcome to the home of the newest and most useful wedding website for Chautauqua and Erie counties! I am so excited to start this site! I was a bride in 2009 and found it difficult to find what I was looking for on the Internet when planning my wedding. There were so many fake sites that I stumbled across and a ton of incomplete sites that weren’t all that useful.

This site is just a baby now but it is going to grow fast and become a great tool in helping local brides and grooms with planning their perfect wedding, so stop back often for lots more news and to watch this blogsite grow and evolve into something you are going to love! Feel free to post comments and share information you find along your way through planning. Submit your photos to be featured couples and featured weddings.

We already have one local couple who you will meet soon that will be blogging tips and tricks learned along the way while planning their wedding on a budget. We will be featuring local couples, area vendors and real local weddings.
